Description
PolyCast G27 Polyurethane Casting Resin is a low viscosity, fast curing, two-part resin which is used for casting small, fine detailed parts with sections as thin as 0.5mm.
Each 2kg Polycast Kit contains 1kg of resin and 1kg of hardener. These are mixed in equal measures and then poured into a mould of an original item. The resin cures, forming a robust and accurate plastic replica of the original.
Scale model makers use G27 to create reproductions of masters they have sculpted from epoxy putty or kit parts which have been modified.
Resin artists use G27 to copy items from original work, including jewellery, figurines and other artefacts. Industrial users replicate machine parts with G27, avoiding the repetitive task of fabricating new components or prototypes.
Parts made using PolyCast Casting Resins have very low shrinkage and do not sag or distort with heat. As a result, Polycast Resins are renowned and trusted for their high detail and repeatability.
G27 has a pot life of 150 seconds, enabling casts to be produced quickly. It has a de-mould time of 20 minutes to 10mm thickness.
The standard colours of G27 are beige (original) or grey. We also produce a specialist white version, G27W Polyurethane Casting Resin which cures straight to white.
For other colours, SylCreate have the facility to custom make resins colour-matched to a specific Pantone or RAL colour. If you require customisation, please contact SylCreate via email with the full Pantone or RAL Colour Reference number for a quote. Alternatively, oil-based or dry pigments can be added by the user to colour the resin.
For those new to the casting and moulding process, you can find instructions in our Showcase article How to make and use a two-part silicone mould for resin casting. There is also a video available under the Videos tab on this product page.
G27 Polyurethane Casting Resin Testimonials
Dr Alex Clark, author of Small Scale Modelling Masterclass:
“Polycast G27 Resin cures in an ideal time. It is enough time to work it into the moulds, but then not too long as to hold up projects. I also like the sharp and crisp results it gives, they are perfect!”
Peter Hallett, resin casting of historical buildings expert:
“I use 370 Silicone Moulding Rubber and G27 Resin to make Tudor houses and Victorian buildings for model rail layouts. Tiled roofs come out with such detail with G27, vastly superior to Plasticard roofs. The finished buildings are always strong and durable.”
