Description
The 4-Way Flexi-File and 50ml Gloss Liquid Micro Abrasive Set work through the entire finishing process from deburring and polishing to creating an ultra-smooth, high quality, wet look finish.
The Set is used by model makers, restorers, crafters and industrial users to produce a very high gloss to plastic, acrylic, metals, wood, coatings, paint urethanes, composites and other materials.
It offers a cost saving compared to buying a Flexi-File and Gloss Liquid separately. A soft cotton cloth can also be added to improve the application of the Liquid.
The 4-Way Flexi-File IS 150mm long, reusable and conforms to NATO stock number (NSN) 5110-01-345-8260.
It comes with four grades of micro abrasives. On one side, grade 180 (black) is very coarse and used to rapidly remove material as the first stage of the finishing process. The surface is then roughened using grade 2400 (pink).
On the other side of the Flex-File are grade 4000 (white) and 12000 (grey). 4000 smooths the material before 12000 is used last to apply a fine finish.
As a padded board coated with Sylmasta Micro Abrasives, the 4-Way Flex-File maintains even pressure during application and comes with a degree of flexibility which allows it to take the shape of the item being worked.
Sylmasta Micro Abrasives feature a cushioned holding layer to prevent the abrasive grit from digging into the surface and cutting aggressively. This enables them to cut surfaces and materials with a planing motion, creating an extremely consistent, regular and fine scratch pattern.
Micro Abrasive Gloss Liquid is then applied to complete the process. The Liquid contains a one micron sized aluminium oxide abrasive crystal which works to remove residual fine scratches from surfaces.
One drop of Gloss Liquid is applied to a cloth and rubbed over the area previously abraded. It leaves a wet look and polishes to the highest gloss.
When used regularly, Gloss Liquid improves the appearance of transparencies by removing haze, milkiness and swirl marks left from previous cleaning attempts.
Unlike other cleaners and polishes which damage surfaces over time, Micro-Abrasive Gloss Liquid is water-based and does not contain any aggressive solvents.
