Description
Sylmasta Metal Bond is a high strength, fast setting, two-part epoxy adhesive specifically formulated for use with metals and other rigid materials.
It cures to a dark grey colour designed to blend in with metallic surfaces and is used in model making, art and craft projects, repair and restoration, and industrial settings.
As well as all types of metal, Metal Bond adheres to ceramics, brick, plaster, wood and fibreglass. It can also be used for gap filling. Metal Bond does not drip or run when applied to vertical surfaces due to its unique thixotropic formulation.
The five minute cure time of Metal Bond is long enough to carry out relatively detailed work without being rushed, at the same time as reducing holding and clamping.
To use Metal Bond Epoxy Adhesive, you extrude equal parts of the two components. The parts are then thoroughly mixed together with a spatula for around 30 seconds.
A thin layer of mixed adhesive is applied to one of the two materials to be bonded. Within five minutes, Metal Bond will begin to set.
Once the two materials have been joined together, they must be kept in place undisturbed for at least 30 minutes for the epoxy to reach maximum properties. A full cure is achieved after 24 hours.
After application, Metal Bond can be stored for re-use at a later date. Under the correct conditions, the epoxy adhesive has a shelf life of two years from the date of manufacture.
Metal Bond is available to purchase in two different sizes. The 25ml syringe features an easy-to-use plunger which pushes the two parts of epoxy adhesive out in equal measures to be mixed. The 50ml cartridge comes with a mixer nozzle and requires an Applicator Gun to extrude the epoxy.
