380 Silicone Moulding Rubber is an all-purpose moulding rubber used to create highly detailed reusable moulds of original items and parts to be copied via casting.
Once the silicone has cured and the mould been formed, resin is poured into the mould to make multiple accurate copies of the master.
Scale model makers use 380 Silicone Moulding Rubber to produce moulds of models they have sculpted from epoxy putty or modified. They can then quickly and easily create numerous reproductions of the original model.
Resin artists use 380 Silicone Moulding Rubber to reproduce original pieces of jewellery, figurines and other artefacts. 380 can also be used by industrial users to copy machine parts, avoiding repetitive tasks when making prototypes or new components.
Moulds taken from Grade 380 have low shrinkage, good dimensional stability and excellent tear strength. They are flexible, have high mechanical properties and are chemically resistant. This means they can be used with aggressive chemicals, such as high styrene polyester resins or epoxies
The quality of 380 Silicone means that moulds can be reused over 20 times, depending on the size and complexity of the part being copied.
380 Silicone Moulding Rubber comes with catalyst, a reusable pipette, mixing cup and stirrer. The 45-120 minute pot life means that there is plenty of time to pour the rubber and allow air bubbles to disperse.
We have detailed the whole mould making and casting process on the Showcase Section of our website, including a video showing how to make and use a two-part silicone mould for resin casting. The video is also available under the Videos tab on this product page.
For full technical details of 380 Silicone Rubber, please see the Data Sheets tab. The de-mould time of 380 Silicone is eight hours.
380 can be purchased as part of the SylCreate Resin Casting & Silicone Moulding Kit. Included in the Kit is Polycast G26 Polyurethane Casting Resin, Release Agent for making two-part moulds and a range of other accessories. The Kit offers a cost saving on buying moulding rubber and resin separately.
