Description

Sylmasta Micro Abrasive Cushioned Pads are flexible, foam-backed pads used for the finishing of plastic, metals, soft woods and paints.

They are used by model makers, furniture restorers, pen turners and other users for touching up scratches, sanding out marks, spot repairs and polishing small areas to an ultra-smooth and glossy finish.

Sylmasta Micro Abrasives are made using a cotton-backed, cushioned holding layer to prevent the abrasive grit from digging into the surface and cutting aggressively.

This extra flexibility cuts surfaces and materials with a planing motion, creating an extremely consistent, regular and fine scratch pattern.

The foam backing of the Pads provides greater versatility and conformity, enabling the polishing of curved surfaces and difficult-to-access areas. Unlike abrasive sheets, Pads do not require a support block which makes them easier to hold and operate.

Adding a little water to the Pads will create an even smoother finish. Wet sanding is highly recommended with acrylics.

Once a surface has been abraded with Cushioned Pads, Sylmasta Micro Abrasive Gloss Liquid can be used to complete the finishing process.

Gloss Liquid contains a one micron sized aluminium oxide abrasive crystal. It is applied to a polishing cloth and rubbed over the restored area, creating an ultra-shiny mirror finish.

Micro Abrasive Cushioned Pads are sized 50mm x 50mm, double-sided and reusable. They can be rinsed after use and allowed to dry thoroughly before being stored away.

We sell nine different grades of Sylmasta Micro Abrasive Cushioned Pads from 1500 up to 12000. Pads can also be purchased in a complete set of nine, featuring one Pad per grade.
