Description
Retarder increases the cure time of Coldglaze PRO 2 Clear Gloss, improving the surface adhesion of the glaze and overall quality of the finish.
The use of Retarder is highly recommended during the glazing and restoration process. A longer cure allows the glaze more time to flatten and adhere to surfaces, giving a higher quality gloss finish. This improved adhesion prevents cobwebbing.
When Coldglaze is to be applied via airbrushing, including Retarder reduces overspray and the cotton wool effect from the airbrush, particularly in warmer conditions.
Retarder is mixed into PT146 Thinners at a ratio of 5 to 10 percent by volume. The more Retarder used, the longer the cure time of Coldglaze becomes.
The quantity of Retarder can be increased up to 100 percent, in which case it is added directly to Coldglaze rather than via PT146 Thinners. This however does result in a slight reduction in gloss.
Retarder is sold in 500ml tins.
