Medium viscosity polyurethane resin with a longer pot life of 3-4 minutes for casting of larger items with sections 0.5mm thick and upwards

SKU: G26 Category:

Description

PolyCast G26 Polyurethane Casting Resin is a medium viscosity, two-part resin with a slightly longer pot life for casting parts from 0.5mm thick and upwards.

Each 2kg Polycast Kit contains 1kg of resin and 1kg of hardener. These are mixed in equal measures and then poured into a mould of an original item. The resin cures, forming a robust and accurate plastic replica of the original.

Scale model makers use G26 to create reproductions of masters they have sculpted from epoxy putty or kit parts which have been modified.

Resin artists use G26 to copy items from original work, including jewellery, figurines and other artefacts. Industrial users replicate machine parts with G26, avoiding the repetitive task of fabricating new components or prototypes.

Parts made using PolyCast Casting Resins have very low shrinkage and do not sag or distort with heat. As a result, Polycast Resins are renowned and trusted for their high detail and repeatability.

G26 has a pot life of 3 to 4 minutes, offering more time to work with the resin. It has a de-mould time of 30 minutes to 10mm thickness.

It cures to a light beige colour (Original) as standard. It is also available in grey. For other colours, SylCreate have the facility to custom make resins colour-matched to a specific Pantone or RAL colour.

If you require customisation, please contact SylCreate via email with the full Pantone or RAL Colour Reference number for a quote. Alternatively, oil-based or dry pigments can be added by the user to colour the resin.

G26 Resin can also be purchased as part of the SylCreate Resin Casting & Silicone Moulding Kit. Included in the Kit is 380 Moulding Rubber, Release Agent for making two-part moulds and a range of other accessories. The Kit offers a cost saving on buying moulding rubber and resin separately.

If you are new to the casting and moulding process, then you can find instructions in our Showcase article How to make and use a two-part silicone mould for resin casting. There is also a video available under the Videos tab on this product page.

FAQs

Can I use pigments to colour my resin?
Yes. Both oil-based and dry pigments should be fine for colouring resins. We recommend that you mix a small amount of resin with your pigments first to test the compatibility. Water-based pigments should not be used.

I opened my resin custom-coloured by SylCreate and it has no colour. Is there a problem with it?
No. Coloured pigments in the resin can settle to the bottom after manufacture, particularly if the resin has not been used for some time. Simply shake the tin and stir the contents to disperse the colour back into the resin.
